If anyone is as addicted to blades as I am and want to try sparring with a trainer blade with another person, an old trick that I have used is to mark the edge of the trainer with red or some other bright colored lipstick. The fact is we cant go around carving up people to practice our blade training, but how do we develop real world abilities with a knife? This is a good way to feel and see the effects of a knife fight. When you slice with the trainer, the lipstick will leave a slash mark. You get the idea! I warn though that you have to go easy and use the greatest control when using this method of sparring. Even trainers can hurt and sometimes even cut if the edge is marred up from a lot of use. Use caution and common sense! And of course, no joint locks and throws, etc… This is just for sparring to learn distances, timing, angles, and to get familiar with the applications of the blade. Happy Hunting guys.Feel free to leave comments and feedback.
