I have a question and hope that someone could be of some help. I have to set up my Level 7 Malabar KunTao-Silat Teacher video test and i’d like to know the testing requirements?! Somewhere i red that i should include also 3 Karambit applications, some blade vs. blade applications, some unarmed vs. armed applications and an armed Kembangan. Sigung Aric told me these were the old testing requirements. The program has been slightly changed so i’d like to know what i should include in my video test?!
      Thank you in advance.

The “new” Level Seven in Malabar is the External Shaolin consisting of the I Shing Po, the Tai Keah and the Po Qua Zen forms which were originally reserved for gurus. I think this addition completes the Malabar System as Willem de Thouars gave to me as my own system. It has always been my goal to teach Willem’s art as he wanted it taught ~ so here are three forms that only Willem is performing. There are variants, of course, but you are welcome to include them all in your performance of these forms. . . or to choose the version you prefer.

Thank you so much Pak Steve!!! What i meant with L7MKTST was my next test: the Taung Lung Tai test. So only the Gasshophoper form+applications is required for that test?!

The “problem” with numeration is because i started my KTS journey with the “old” system so my L6MKTST Test was about Pai Yun Form. Now i have to step into Taung Lung Tai.

Yes! There is a choice of Ling Sing Toy or Taung Lung to advance to Level Seven, which is the material I mentioned above. In your case, however, since you joined before this level of “External/Internal” “Taoist/Shaolin” was added ~ it is optional for you. When you complete this next level you will be Guru Muda. That was the deal we made when you started. Yet, I’m also certain that you will train, study and perfect “Willem’s External/Internal Taoist/Shaolin” and pass it along to future generations of KunTao Silat Practitioners as honor to Willem de Thouars’ contributions to the martial arts community.

I see!!! Ok then: i’ll upload a testing video including Taung Lung Tai form + applications of it, but for sure i’ll study and train Ling Sing Toi and all the Internal/External KunTao forms included in the “New” Program to improve my understanding of Malabar KunTao-Silat. The learning path is a never-ending one!!! Thank you so much for your help Pak Steve: i really appreciated it!!!
