InactiveHello Dallas, Yes, in silat the center knuckle is king, although ALL parts of the hand, including the back are used, depending upon the target and the angle of the deflecting punch/block.

ParticipantArt, Seems to me the issue was laid out in the initial phrasing of the question: "Coming from a WC background, I need to know..."I doubt he missed all the hitters, but he comes from a style that makes a big deal about certain knuckles being the points of contact in a straight punch.

Inactive:-I'm beginning to see this as a very distinct line of de-markation between the skilled practitioners who join our Family and the rash beginners who come looking for the "Bruce Lee" pill that makes them superhuman in 90 days . . . so I'm thinking that creating a couple of different threads addressing each of those criteria is apropos.
