      I think it is beneficial in martial arts to understand the the body and how it works. For example, some people offer "the secret to 1-touch knock-outs". There's no secret, some points on the body when struck or tapped even lightly, can cause qi to descend quickly. When the qi rapidly leaves the head/brain area, the person falls down. This is medical knowledge, not just martial arts teaching. Traditionally, students trained hard which resulted in

      In my opinion, the best things that you could realistically have on your person that would help you survive a knife attack, would be a belt and a cell phone. You could use the belt as a tourniquet to keep from bleeding to death, while you use the cell phone to call for help. These things may seem obvious, but I don't think anyone who is attacked in this way would see it coming, and these are things that I know I would have with me if it were to ever happen.
