KunTao Silat’s Breath in Movement Warm Up
KunTao Silat has now expanded its curriculum to include the internal mechanics taught to Steve Gartin by Great GrandMaster U. Un Surya of Indonesia. American KunTao Silat embraces these internal mechanics in lieu of the Shaolin style power generation methods used in Malabar KunTao Silat at the upper levels.
This addition now provides an opportunity for injured or elder practitioners who do not have the extra-ordinary leg strength and flexibility required for the pursuit and practice of Malabar KunTao Silat to learn the unique combat synergism of American KunTao Silat and develop a personal martial lifestyle that offers both combat efficiency and health benefits.
Seen here is a simple American KunTao Silat Morning WarmUp we term Breath in Movement. As in most of KunTao Silat’s training methods, this exercise combines several elements in a multi-tasking symbiosis designed for combat effectiveness. Here, the internal breathing methods combine with the power delivery system of legwork in one synergistic exercise.

People familiar with the Chinese Internal Martial Arts will recognize these elements in this warm up exercise. On closer examination some Silat elements will also become obvious, but the power delivery system is uniquely internal.
American KunTao Silat is now available as a stand-alone system or in combination with Malabar KunTao Silat in either DVD format or as MP4 Downloads.
