It does sometimes appear that decades of martial training can be an impediment to progress in KunTao Silat. Beginners have little or no baggage to discard before learning the KunTao Silat way.

The one that made the most difference is, “You must change the way you think. . . ” The one I think about the most, “Your LegWork sucks!”

KTS is a very unique experience; worth the trip.

      Howdy Jon,
05DjurusSatu.mp4 is now up and ready. I just re-mastered it for 2015 and added a clip from Chas’ front yard. I’m sure Brandt will recognize the background. You can go to your KTS account and access it there for a re-download.

Sounds like you’re getting a good foundation. I’d say the Triangle exercises would be good next step. Since you’re already working on Betawi Djurus 1 & 2, expanding into the first Eight Serak Djurus would be a good direction too.

Guru Brandt may even want to break you in on some MonkeyFoot training.
Keep on churning through the material!
      Peace,
      Art

      Howdy Joshua,
Thanks for the informative introduction. It’s good getting to know you.

Sounds like you and Guru Brandt might just get a practice group going up there in Portland. Let us know if there is anything we can do to enhance your Kuntao Silat Training experience.

It is good to see all parts of the KunTao Silat Family coming together. Please pass our fond greetings on to Guru Brandt and Pak Chas.
      Peace,
      Art

That’s great news Michael, I’ll let all the KunTao Silat Practitioners in the area know that a new Practice Group is available!

Yes, having practice partners is a major key in developing all the tools KunTao Silat provides and the Practice Leader Program is one of the best ways for folks to get started in the teaching process. You have the good fortune of having a mentor such as Jeff Fargo and a teacher like Joe Judt who may be able to drop in on your Practice Group from time to time to also help refine your teaching skills. You can also submit testing videos for the KTS Staff to critique – either of your martial or teaching skills. This is an integral part of the Guru Certification Course curriculum.

Take the leap and get started!
