Jonathan Pyndus started the topic Kuntao Silat Training Manual in the forum Seasoned Practitioners 7 years, 11 months ago
Greetings from Texas!
Just curious as I remember reading some time ago there was discussion about a book/manual covering the basics of Kuntao Silat being worked on. Is there any idea when that will be released?
Thanks!

Howdy!
Not to resurrect a dead thread, but I also have a question about Ling Sing Toi!
In the only video I have seen of the form (with Guru Ted Garcia), Guru Garcia turns away from the camera during the last section of the form. I recognize he starts with Tiger circles then transitions into Twin Dragon strikes, but what is the last set of…[Read more]

Pak Steve,
I replied to this last week but it seems it did not post!
Thanks for your clarification. I’ll look forward to feeling Kuntao Silat gunting.
I personally encourage being unapologetically American, but that’s another conversation.
Out of curiosity, is there still work being done on a book or manual explaining all the basics and…[Read more]

Howdy!
Just out of curiosity, is there an Eagle Form in KTS? I notice in the logo that we have the Monkey, Dragon, and Tiger and each has a form in the curriculum, so I naturally wonder if the Eagle does as well, especially since Pak Steve demonstrates Eagle Claw Kuntao applications in the Introduction to Heartless Monkey.
Of course, there is…[Read more]

I couldn’t help but look up the opinion.

It was a second degree murder conviction. I think it is a sobering read for martial artists. I’m biased for a number of reasons but I’ll tell you that I did witness innumerable abuses from some though not all bouncers in NYC during…[Read more]

I forgot to add, regarding the issue of legality, a trend I’ve perceived since the explosion of kerambits and other exotic knives in the market. In non-knife-friendly states (the biggest one IMO being NY) the design and shape alone will give the enforcers an excuse to go after you. I remember one case from NY (the defendant’s name was Umali, if I…[Read more]

I think the adrenaline rush is going to make grip the knife as tightly as possible. Your question reminds me of a question I’ve had regarding knife grips in KTS. In the video where Chas Clements teaches knife fighting he advocates a tight, solid, hammer grip with short strong stabs and slashes none of them going outside the box. If I hear him…[Read more]
